Persian Cats have the impression of being heavily boned, well-balanced animals of a square body type with their soft round lines having no evidence of obesity. The chest is broad and deep. The strong legs of Persian Cats are short and thick with large, round, and firm feet. Persian Cats carry their short tail without a curve and lower than the back. The coat of Persians is combined of long and thick undercoat and it has a glossy, fine-textured, topcoat, standing off from the body. The coat accentuates the roundness in appearance.
The head of a purebred Persian Cat is round and massive; it is well set on a short neck. The jaws are broad; the cheeks are full; and the ears are small, round tipped, and wide set. Persians have large, round, and brilliant eyes. There is a distinction between two of the face types of Persian Cats: the modern flat-faced Persians, commonly seen in shows, and the traditional doll-faced Persians that have a more proportioned face with the mouth and nose located well in front of the eyes. There exist lots of feline registries throughout the world, and each one has its own breed standard. The average life span of Persian Cats is 15 years. The average cost of Persian Cats varies between $300 and $500.
